How it works

The converter first expresses your input as kilograms, then divides by the target unit mass. Metric units follow powers of ten around the SI kilogram, including grams, milligrams, micrograms, and metric tonnes.

Avoirdupois ounces, pounds, stones, short tons, and long tons use the international pound value of exactly 0.45359237 kilograms. Grains use 1/7,000 of an avoirdupois pound, and metric carats use exactly 200 milligrams.

Use this tool for shipping estimates, kitchen notes, lab-adjacent planning, classroom examples, and quick unit tables. It does not include every historical, apothecaries, troy, or local trade unit, so confirm the required definition when regulated measurements depend on a specific unit variant.
