Torque Converter

Convert newton-meters, pound-feet, pound-inches, kilogram-force meters, and related torque units with formulas and copy-ready output.

Enter a torque amount, choose the source and target units, and generate a copy-ready conversion. The calculation stays in your browser and uses newton-meters as the common reference for SI, inch-pound, and gravitational-force torque units.

Use a non-negative torque magnitude. Commas as thousands separators and scientific notation are accepted.

How it works

The converter first expresses your input in newton-meters, the SI expression for a moment of force, then divides by the target unit torque. Kilonewton-meters, newton-centimeters, and newton-millimeters are decimal SI multiples.

Pound-feet, pound-inches, and ounce-inches use international avoirdupois force and length relationships. Kilogram-force and gram-force values use standard gravity of 9.80665 meters per second squared.

This is a reference converter for torque magnitudes. It does not model direction, lever geometry, dynamic loading, fastener lubrication, calibration limits, or safety factors. Torque and energy can both include newton-meters in their units, but torque should not be treated as joules of work.
