How it works

The calculator multiplies the selected tip basis by your tip percentage, adds optional tax and service charges, then divides the final total by the number of people splitting the bill.

Tip = tip basis × tip percentage

Use pre-tax mode when you only want to tip on the food or service subtotal. Use post-tax mode when your local custom or receipt check uses the taxed amount. Optional rounding adjusts the tip, total, or per-person share after the initial estimate.

This tool estimates an even split from the numbers you enter. It does not decide local tipping customs, tax rules, service-charge policies, or whether a restaurant fee already includes gratuity.
