Time Unit Converter
Convert time values across subsecond, clock, day, week, month, quarter, and year units with clear assumptions.
Enter a time amount, choose the source and target units, and generate an exact or assumption-based conversion. The calculation stays in your browser and the output calls out when month, quarter, or year values are estimates.
Use a non-negative number. Commas as thousands separators and scientific notation are accepted.
Only month, quarter, and year conversions use this assumption. Smaller units use fixed elapsed-time lengths.
How it works
The converter expresses your input as elapsed seconds, then divides by the target unit length. Picoseconds through weeks use fixed elapsed-time definitions, including 60 seconds per minute, 24 hours per day, and 7 days per week.
Months, quarters, and years are planning estimates because calendar months and years are not fixed elapsed-time lengths. Use the month and year basis option to choose an average Gregorian year, Julian year, or fixed planning calendar.
Use this tool for engineering notes, runbooks, service-level targets, media timing, and planning math. For exact differences between calendar dates, use a date/time difference calculator because daylight-saving changes, leap years, and real month lengths can change calendar spans.
