DNS Lookup Command Generator for dig and nslookup

Create dig and nslookup commands for DNS record checks.

Enter a DNS name and record type to generate the dig and nslookup commands you can run yourself. This page is a command generator, not a live DNS resolver.

Use a DNS name only. Leave off protocols, paths, ports, query strings, and fragments.

How it works

The tool checks that the DNS name uses ASCII letters, numbers, hyphens, underscores, and dots, then prepares copyable terminal commands for common DNS clients. Run those commands in your own trusted terminal or DNS client to perform the actual lookup.

Nerdmosis does not contact a DNS resolver from this page. Keeping the lookup in your terminal helps you choose the resolver, network, and logging environment before you query a real domain.
