How it works
The converter first expresses your input as square meters, then divides by the target unit area. Metric units follow powers of ten squared around the SI metre; for example, one square kilometer is 1,000,000 square meters.
US customary square inch, foot, yard, and mile values come from the exact international inch relationship of 1 inch = 0.0254 meters. Acres use the international acre of 43,560 square feet, and hectares use the metric value of 10,000 square meters.
Use this tool for floor areas, lot sizes, planning notes, classroom examples, and quick unit tables. It does not include every historical, local survey, or crop-specific unit, so confirm the required definition when legal or regulated land records depend on a specific unit variant.
